Book Marketing - The Story Behind the Book Sensation a Christmas Box

Richard first 'published' his book A Christmas box in December 1992 but in February the following year, the people he still receiving orders for this book. So he decided it was time to publish the book, but a rejected one-by-publisher. Frustrated, Richard decided to self publish his first book and 7,000 copies printed.

Now most books are not even sell 5,000 copies, this was a courageous step. Finally he found a local agent willing to market his book that inspiressaid to him:

"We think you'll do really well. We think you could sell as many as 3,000 copies."

Richard was a sinking feeling inside. What he wanted to do with 4,000 pounds?

The agent had his estimate on the sales, which at its best-selling author was reaching the spot, but a few weeks later he called to say Richard,

"Rick, you'll need more books."

"How many?"

But the agent was reluctant to say. Now this was uncharted territoryto him. A Christmas Box was run over expectations, but for how long it would take to do so was hard to tell.

Richard intuition told him to 20,000 more copies printed, but he cautiously additional 10,000 copies printed and sent to the bookstore. That was on 3 September. On 6 September, he received another call requesting more books.

"I have another 10,000 copies. Did not you receive it?"

They had but they were now available in this book to aHeight of 3,000 copies per day. It was unprecedented.

Richard decided that it's time to build on its local successes and to his book nationally.

He was ill-prepared for the innumerable cancellations received. He said he felt as if he were attacked every day. But he knew of numerous testimonies he received, that was, in fact, this book changed my life and so he persisted with his book "marketing campaign.

He talked about his book to anyone who would listen. Hehas countless radio interviews. And by Christmas of next year, he had a breakthrough. People's magazine contacted him to do a feature story. Then he was contacted by the show today, and suddenly A Christmas Box took a new life.

Major publishers are now queuing up to buy the rights to this book. The first was Warner Books. Quibble is not your representative the bush. He said Richard Evans, that he was entitled to give him $ 2 million U.S. dollars for itsBook - a lot of money.

Richard turned down the offer.

First, Disney was adorned their publishing offer with the offer of an exclusive holiday for himself and his family to Disney World.

"Mickey Mouse Will present the check?" asked Richard.

"If you want", the answer was glib.

Richard turned the offer from Disney's.

But he also realized he was in over his head and looked for an agent - one of the best in the industry, whose credits included Bridges OverMadison County. It was decided that the book auction and the auction starts at 16 publishers try to outdo each other. After the first round only a publisher went out of the tender, Disney had been leading with an offer of $ 2.75 million U.S. dollars.

Suddenly, there was still a benefit for all the rejection. He knew every one of the publishers now compete for his book published. This knowledge could help him make his decision, after the auction run its course. It wasa bizarre twist of fate.

In the end, Bantam Press Simon & Schuster were the leaders had both offers on the table, from over U.S. $ 4 million U.S. dollars. Richard decided to go with Simon and Schuster - much to the disappointment Bantam's. He received an advance of $ 2 million U.S. dollars, and the hardcover version of the book was published by Simon and Schuster in 1995.

A Christmas Box was awarded to the first book to reach the same time, the coveted No. 1 position on the New York TimesBestseller lists for both the hardcover and soft cover versions. To date, more than 8 million copies of this book have been sold and there has also been made into a film of the same name Starring Richard Thomas and Maureen O'Hara.

Richard Paul Evans comes from an underprivileged background, and the success of this book allowed him to fulfill a different goal. In 1997 he founded "The Christmas Box House International - a non-profit organization dedicated to the construction of emergency shelters and is providingServices for abused and neglected children. To date, more than 16,000 children have been housed in Christmas Box House facilities.

How To Write A Book - Three Simple Steps to Write a Book About Anything

Before you sit to write a book, you need to know what you write. Believe me, many people sit up and write a book, then at the end staring at a blank screen or notebook. Here are three simple steps to help you started writing a book about nothing.

Step # 1 Identify a niche.

Find a group of people who are in need of specific information. It is really something. You can write a book as your boa constrictor, a feedOrganic food, or you can eat a book about the 30 pounds of ice cream and cake only to lose to write. Actually - please write this book! The ideas and possibilities are endless. Find a niche, looking for the information and write a book for them.

You may be wondering how you find your niche. Start with the information in 3 Critical Steps To Finding The Perfect Book Topic. Once you've found your niche, you can step in number two.

Step # 2 Identify a problem to solve and thenit.

Selling book is as much about solving a problem and gives them an advantage, as they write about. Your book has to offer a benefit to your readers. It has to solve a problem. Continuing with the subject of living longer, which is in itself a problem. People do not want to die and live longer, is generally an appealing concept. But you can go one step further.

What other problems or concerns may have people in this niche? Perhaps they want to live longer, but theydo not want to change their diet and lifestyle too much. Perhaps they want to live longer, but they want a strong and powerful in their last year not only alive.

Now you have identified two potential problems for your target niche, solve your book. Write a book about how to live longer, without compromising your current life, or How to Get More, more, and start living better today.

Step 3 Write your book and sales page.

Once a themeand a niche chosen, the next step is to give the title of your book-writing and selling side. Why? Because once you are the steps to determine what is your book, write it out to be simply transferred.

Your title should be mandatory, and it should state the benefits of your book. For more information on how to create a compelling book to read Let Them judge your book by its cover. Why Your Book Cover Is 50% of the sale.

Your sales page should go into detail about what exactlyReaders will find within the pages of your book and how their lives richer and fuller. How to use your book is? Write them all out and then take immediate action to the truth.

Do you want to move your desk, faster than this? Do not have time to write the book? Follow steps one and two and then read 5 secrets to writing a book in 1 week

Book Review: Dear John

Dear John is Nicholas Sparks' new novel. I have read all of Sparks' books and I have my favorites, such as, for example, The Notebook, Dear John, and now on my list of favorites.

It is a touching story of young love that will last a lifetime. The main character, John Tyree, met the first love of his life, Savannah Curtis, on the beach in North Carolina. At that time John was home visits his father during a short leave from the military. Savannah, a student who was in town withsome of her colleagues are working on a project "Habitat for Humanity.

The two were an unlikely couple from the beginning. John was something of a rebel who ran out right after high school to join the army, while Savannah was a pure, industrious, Southern girl. But, as they say, opposites attract. From the beginning, was to them a powerful bond, which, unfortunately, always separated by time and space. John had his obligations to his military service and Savannah had her obligations to complete theirEducation.

However, the two remained very committed to each other, despite the distance, until the unexpected events of 11 September changed everything, not only for the world, but also for the future of this young couple.

A novel like this one has to wonder about all the people who pass through our lives and how often a single incident can change the destiny forever. It is a very lovable and heartwarming story about love and sacrifice. If you decide to check it out, my onlyRecommendation is that you might have some tissues nearby!

Somebody to Love ~ Ella Enchanted Tribute

I have this little vid for my daughter, but I also love. Ella (Anne Hathaway) is a gold camera - and the guy plays her Prince Charming is not bad either! So many funny moments in this film too - it probably is. My Favorite "Kids" DVD that we own. Anyway - I thought the additional material provided that it was lame on the DVD, so I made my own video for the 2 best songs. Here is set a - the Anne Hathaway version of "Queen's Somebody to Love." I would have liked to have more in their song ...

Digital Photography: An Introduction

Digital Photography: An Introduction Review

I've never really liked taking pictures. I like looking at them, but not taking them. A whole bunch of people told me that by going digital I wouldn't dislike taking pictures so much. He then handed me this book, along with the admonishment that a lot of things like the number of megapixels change before the ink has time to dry on any book. ==I read the book and became convinced that the problems I had had before of not knowing if I had the picture, the endless changing of lenses, all the junk you had to carry with you has been replaced by a camera with a big memory card, and a 10X optical zoom that will also take movies.

I see some comments about this book that it is too simple, not enough material, not enough detail, etc. Could be. But it was exactly what I needed to tell me what I was getting into by going digital.

Most of my pictures are being taken to put on the web. Just the few pages he has on JPEG, GIF, etc. are again exactly what I needed. It told me what I needed to know without going into a bunch of extra detail.

Understanding Digital Cameras: Getting the Best Image from Capture to Output

Understanding Digital Cameras: Getting the Best Image from Capture to Output Review

Understanding Digital Cameras: Getting the Best Image from Capture to Output, by Jon Tarrant. Focal Press, Elsevier: Amsterdam, Boston, London, etc. Paperback, 346 Pages, 2007, [...]
Reviewed by David J. Marcou for Publication on amazon.com --

Two very worthy elements reside side-by-side in this excellent follow-up to the 2003 predecessor book by this gifted author, `Digital Camera Techniques' - i.e., excellent technical insights into every aspect of digital camera work, and human touches of kindness and interest.
Jon Tarrant has put in his time over the years experimenting with and analyzing cameras, prints, and related photographic equipment and supplies, especially with regard to the human life around us. And though he always writes with a fresh eye for that life, he has paid his dues. He has edited three international photo magazines, including the `British Journal of Photography,' and he still writes technical studies for that magazine. He has also contributed both writing and photos to many other magazines, newspapers, and books. In addition, he is very good about employing others in his books, like other photographers (including Paul Stewart, Michael Ruskin, and Andrew Stevens), who have joined him with model images that teach in basic and advanced ways, how to operate and utilize digital cameras and images.
One lesson of particular merit is the notion that a flash warning light should not always be heeded. Too many times, people use flash to spoil images, by wiping out visual details in the foreground, like shadows and silhouettes that would be gorgeous without flash. On the other hand, Jon also points out how fill-in flash can be advantageous, as when one is shooting a family portrait with family members standing backs to the sun. Other key lessons include keeping your subject in focus despite, or while showing, movement or complex fields of view. Fine-art printing is also covered, as is color quality, plus working with models, among many related subjects here. Jon also points out that a photo should generally be in-focus when made, but that the Normal setting not the Fine/Sharp setting should be utilized in-camera, with exceptions to be sure, so the image can be sharpened further, on-computer.
In `Understanding Digital Cameras', one feels that Jon Tarrant fully understands each camera's and subject's basics and nuances, and imparts his carefully obtained wisdom to the reading public - a public he continues to capably educate in the most advanced forms of modern photography.

Book Talks: What to Say and How to Say It

Great! The Chamber of Commerce or a similar group, has asked you to talk about your latest book. Although, then, are your business, you can talk to the public fear. What should you say? How does one say it? These tips will give help you to say a five-star book.

Confirm arrangements. Errors can happen and you do not want that they will not. One or two days before you planned to speak, confirm the date, time, place and your audiovisual needs. Toastmasters Internationalsays that you visit the site before. Make sure books will be available when you are speaking for your autograph.

Say hello to the audience. Come on time and greet spectators as they enter the room or store. This gives you an immediate connection with the audience and makes you an approachable person.

Check the public. Under the Advanced Public Speaking Institute, men and women respond differently to calls. Women laugh more than men easiily and "aall-male audience is critical to bind to [with]. . . especially if you are a famale speakers. "be prepared to make some last minute changes in your speech if you are a woman.

Thanks. Viewers have the time to come and hear you made, thank them for coming. Your do not have to be grateful for, but they must be honest. Thank the person who invited you and other contacts.

Keep your intro short. They may also be eager to hear you, spectatorsdo not want to listen to a long lead-time-in, or what a friend of mine calls the "When Grandpa West line in 1935" Introduction. (He is very funny.) Get the attention of the audience and cut to the chase - the body of the lecture.

Make point lead. Speech writers tell their customers begin to "tell them what you tell them." You must do the same. State within the meaning of the lecture and summarize your book in one sentence. (This is harder than it sounds.) How do you want to talk, you canTheir main points of this book.

Cite advantages. Although they do not say it out loud is to ask every audience member: "Why should your book?" You should be able to quickly respond to this question. Refer to your book by title, not "the book" and then repeat the title on several occasions.

Tell stories. The audience will not remember me, statistics, but they will remember stories. Tell stories about being a writer or stories from your book. Note that storytelling is not the same as'Humor. If you are good at telling jokes, they are talking to her. Avoid jokes, unless you remember punch lines.

Keep your attention. The Advanced Public Speaking Institute says you should win a "unit attention" every two to four minutes. These devices include things such as movement, shows a support, the distribution of leaflets and delivers one-liners. You can also a Power Point presentation that goes with your book.

Have a strong finish. They want theAudience recall, you and your book. So tell a touching story, or ask the audience to take action, or whisper in your last line for effect. A change of approach can also be a strong finish. If you are giving a talk about a serious subject, for example, you can close on a humorous note.

Remember, the audience thinks of your book to speak, as entertainment.

Eddie Albert, the famous Hollywood actor, was a friend of my father-in-law. I met Eddie several times, and he called me againthanking me for a book that I had sent him. During our conversation, Eddie said he gave a presentation on the conservation this afternoon. The lecture was finished, "said Eddie, but he was still in the entertainment aspect. "You have to educate a conversation," he commented. Good advice for us all.

What Is The Best Digital Camera Brand?

If there was ever a controversial issue among the hordes of digital camera enthusiasts who need to is "What is the best digital camera brand?". Sometimes referred to as "What is the best brand of digital camera to buy?" But do not be confused with "What is the best camera to buy?". Because everyone knows that regular (film) cameras are far superior to digital cameras. Hang on a sec, or was it the other way around? Who canpursuing these days? Well, before I digress too far from the topic, can take a look at the ancient battle, and see if we can determine which brand is best.

First things first, for the purposes of full disclosure, I must declare that I have, in fact, several cameras. They represent a variety of brands. I have two Canons, a Fuji and Kodak. I must admit that I partially Canon something, but I'll try not to let that cloud any editorial comments I may subsequentlymake.

When the digital camera sales were not available, what is the best mark, according to Amazon.com Canon would be a clear winner. As I write this, Canon produces 18 of the top 25 best-selling cameras on its bestseller list. In addition, Canon held 9 of the 10 top spots, with the top-3, the PowerShot A570 IS, the PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph and the PowerShot SD850 . Sharing the top 11 spots are made with Canon 2 of the Pure VideoFlip video cameras. Nikon has 2 cameras in the top 25 and the Nikon D40 and the Nikon D300. Panasonic creeps in with a few of the Lumix models, in particular, the DMC-TZ3K and DMC TZ3A. And ends in a strong 25th Place, the old with the powerful Kodak Easyshare Z812IS.

Of course, popular, or not make the best seller is the best brand. It simply means you have the best selling. In this world seems to be with most CanonSuccess. Determine exactly how we would be the best brand? Best service, best design, supporting the best features, best customer, the best picture and best possible user experience are all valid moves. Perhaps a critical / scientific / empirical investigation of all models of cameras, manufacturers would be in order. Let's see if we are in total a large part of the work already by a number of test sites, which take the above properties doConsideration.

A review of a top camera test site at their 5-star category, show 39 Canon cameras, 18 Sony cameras, 17 Nikon cameras, 6 Fuji cameras, 5 Olympus cameras, 5 Panasonic cameras, 3 Pentax cameras and 1 Konica camera. A second camera test site at their top-103 cameras that 46 Canon cameras, 21 Sony cameras, 20 Nikon cameras, 5 Pentax cameras, 3 Fuji cameras, 2 Samsung cameras, 2 Panasonic cameras, 2 Kodak cameras, 1 Konica camera and 1 Casio camera. If anything is giving the overall picture, the top 3 at the end of 85, Canon, Sony is a distant second with 39, and Nikon a very close third with 37th All others had less than 10 highest-rated cameras.

Interesting huh? Canon seems to be dominated by sales and wowing the critics. That's a pretty strong one-two punch. The only reasonable conclusion here is that Canon is the best overall mark and wide. Of course I would never recommend that any purchase> Camera, the only brand. I suggest that is your homework by researching some good cameras. Once you have your short list, and everything else being equal, perhaps you should choose the Canon.

Casio Exilim EX-S5 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD (Blue)

Casio Exilim EX-S5 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD (Blue) Review

I am giving this 5 stars initially. So far it is an awesome little camera, lightweight, highly functional with even more features than my previous the 7.2mp EX120. This camera takes a lithium ion battery and I like it, much easier to recharge and it holds a charge longer than the AA batteries in my previous model. I am going on vacation soon to the mountains and intend to put this to the test. I will have a detailed report soon. Stay tuned for Part 2......
PART 2 08/10/2009 Back from vacation, camera performed flawlessly in all sorts of conditions. Took around 140 pics. I explored a multitude of settings and they all worked well. The self timer was great for shots where my son and I wanted in together...4 settings on that up to 10 second delay. I used the auto exposure, with some of my own settings, but not the Easy mode...I find it to be too easy..I like to vary the settings especially the ISO...The noise that some people mention is a non issue in my book..not enough to worry about. For the money in a 10MP camera, you can't go wrong with this gem.
