Book Finds by Ian Ellis

This is an excellent book for the intensive study of the history of books and bookmaking, the secrets of the "textbook Scouts what buyers are looking bookstore and many other aspects of the book sell, buy, where and how. This book is helpful, such as buying, selling fiction, nonfiction, antiquarian, modern or any kind of book. Ellis begins by giving us the history of books and how they were made and with what products to the now and present of How to Sell, MakeContacts, Buy, What to Look For to leave things in the store, etc. His know-how is invaluable.

Ellis initially describes the three books:

Copy 1) reading - the kind of book would you take to the beach, etc.

2) Antiquarian - 1 Edition of the books of the past, and all the old books with old binding materials, print and information. Knowledge needs in dealing with this kind of book because counterfeits are found and to be considered.

3)Modern Books - enough l00s the author of many books are genre. These eagerly sought after and collected, but only about every book can be referred to as "collectables".

It is this last category, this book is highly concentrated. Its five specific rules, which he feels, you need to get all the glue to keep informed and to collect books are as follows.

1) Ellis, strongly suggests to specialize in a subject and then choose to stay there. Willan expert, if possible. As your curiosity grows, and you learn, you will be able to pass on your knowledge and an expert in it.

2) He also strongly suggest you pay attention to the condition of your book is in. It does not matter if it is rare when they are in terrible condition.

3) The "Rule of Three" is his return. Try to buy books that will take you three times as much unspent.

4) Set a fixed route of the bookstores scout alltheir new spending, as often as you can. KNOW YOUR BUSINESS. Do they specialize in horror or mystery? What most likely, you will find there? Do you know to save your life. Stores may be used, bookstores, new bookstores, etc.

5) Do not forget about the trade in your store. Anytime you can a book trade do. Do not buy it. Reading copies can be sold profitably because of its abundance of them. Here the emphasis is quantity not quality.

Ellis also tells us about the beginnings ofBookmakers, articles and items that were used in bookmaking since the dawn of time until the present. Closer, he tells us about Scouting for Books vs.Dealing, The Art of Book Trading and much more information.

At the end of the book is a glossary of terms, the books and a list of "book is," said the author. I read this book informative and interesting.
